NOTE:
This app only works with the 2nd generation iPhone because it uses the GPS chipset to obtain its data.
This application came to be because speed is by its very nature an instantaneous reading as opposed to the cars tachometer whose info is more related to rate of change. Instantaneous measurements are best displayed as discrete numbers which are easy to read fast and accurately with a single glance.
This application is designed to be very simple to use. It displays speed accurately (if it exceeds 5mph/8 Km/h), it displays altitude, distance covered and heading.
If the user taps the speed reading, the display switches to only show the current speed. Tapping anywhere below the speed on the screen will return to the mutli-display mode.
Tapping the Compass/Direction number will switch between heading (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW) and degrees (0- 360).
Tapping the Altitude box will switch to the timer. This timer is set and reset via the Start/Stop button.
Distance covered is reset by tapping its box. It is not reset by the Start/Stop button.
On the flipside (visible when the Info button is pressed), there are two self-explanatory options, "Imperial Measures" and "Disable Sleep".These can be permanently set in the iPhone Settings application.
Thats it.
For mounting in a car, we recommend using mounts that attach to the cars vents. They are excellent, can be moved from vehicle to vehicle and do not require drilling etc.
Have fun!
